Dear Parents and Carers, As you will know from the UK government’s statement yesterday evening, the complex and rapidly changing situation regarding Covid-19 has now reached a stage where severely restricted opening or full school closure has become necessary from next week onwards for all schools. At present, Sheffield City Council is working closely with the government in order to plan the city’s strategy in this area, in order to try to maintain school provision for the children of keyworkers in order to aid the city’s response to the pandemic. Parents and carers of pupils in Lydgate Infant School will shortly receive a message from the school asking for relevant information to inform this process. Once this process has been completed, further information will be released informing parents and carers of school provision in the city for the coming weeks ahead. At this point, Lydgate Infant School will also communicate detailed arrangements to support the learning of pupils who are not in school over the coming weeks. Please could the school thank all parents and carers for their patience and understanding during this worrying and difficult time, and for their messages of personal support. Please be assured that it is the school’s firm intention, whether through partial opening or forced closure, to support its pupils and community throughout this exceptionally challenging period as best it can.
