Pupil Premium & Sports Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is funding given to schools to help to support disadvantaged pupils, and to help to close the gap in attainment between these pupils and their peers. It is allocated to schools for every pupil who has been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years, and for children looked after or adopted, under special guardianship or residence order and children of Service Personnel.

It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils for whom they are responsible.

At Lydgate Infant School, we are committed to closing the attainment gap between our disadvantaged pupils and their peers, by ensuring that all of our pupils get access to an engaging and inspiring curriculum, the best teaching and learning, and carefully targeted support.

At Lydgate Infant School, in 2018/19, 6.9% of pupils were eligible for Pupil Premium, giving a total of £34,960 in Pupil Premium funding.

In 2019/20, 10.2% of pupils are eligible for Pupil Premium, giving a total of £51,780 in Pupil Premium funding.

Sports Premium Funding

Lydgate Infant School warmly welcomed the Department for Education’s announcement to provide additional funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. We are committed to using this resource in developing high quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sporting competitions and clubs for all of our pupils.

We believe enhancing physical literacy enables pupils to discover new talents and develop existing skills in ways that increase enjoyment and confidence, and open new possibilities that can last a lifetime.
