Lydgate Infant | Welcome
Aiming High and Having Fun!

Below you can find a list of important school policies:

Attendance Policy

Our Attendance target for this year is 96.5%. It is vital that children attend school regularly and consistently to ensure they make progress and achieve their potential. Please see the enclosed documents on the importance of high attendance:

Charges and Remissions Policy

Lydgate Infant School believes that all our pupils should have an equal opportunity to benefit from school activities and visits (curricular and extracurricular), independent of their parents’ financial means. This charging policy describes how we do our best to ensure a good range of visits and activities are offered and, at the same time, try to minimise the financial barriers which may prevent some pupils taking full advantage of the opportunities.

Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy

Keeping children safe is the foundation stone upon which everything which the school does is built. As such, the school follows all the procedures and policies detailed on the Safeguarding Sheffield Children website. Please see the following documents on the importance of child protection and safeguarding:

You can download a copy of the school’s Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy here.

Code of Behaviour

The school shares important values and expectations to pupils regarding behaviour and engagement when in school, in a form appropriate to the pupils’ young age.

You can download a copy of our code of behaviour here.

Complaints Policy

Lydgate Infant School works very hard to maintain a strong partnership with parents and governors who are active in the life of the school. We welcome parents and carers as partners in the education of their children and know how powerful such partnership can be in allowing pupils to fulfil their potential. However, if any parent or carer has a serious concern or complaint, the school has a procedure to ensure that the issue is resolved fairly and openly.

You can download a summary of the school’s complaints procedure here, or the full version of the school’s complaints procedure here.

Equality & Diversity Statement

The school’s Equality & Diversity Statement sets out the approach that our school takes to meet the general and specific requirements of the Public Sector Equality Duty introduced by the Equality Act 2010. By placing an equality perspective in all of our policies and practices, we recognise that we are not thinking about people as an homogenous group but as distinct groups with differing needs, characteristics and behaviours. This enables us to address the issues in creating an inclusive whole school environment.

Gifted & Talented Policy

As a school we are committed to providing an environment which encourages all pupils to maximise their potential. We recognise that equal opportunity does not mean the same curriculum for all, and that gifted and talented pupils will need extra support and challenge as part of our provision. You can find out more information as to how this is undertaken here.

Health & Safety Policy

The school’s Health and Safety Policy complements the Local Authority’s Policy and addresses the particular requirements of this school.

Positive Behaviour & Anti-Bullying Policy

This policy sets out to define a code of appropriate behaviour for Lydgate Infant School. The policy is based on the school’s vision of a safe, caring, listening school and applies to every individual in school.

Special Educational Needs & Disability and Inclusion Policy

Lydgate Infant School is committed to providing an appropriate and high quality education for all in our school - we believe that all children, including those identified as having special educational needs or a disability, have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum, which is accessible to them, and to be fully included in all aspects of school life wherever possible. We believe that all children should be equally valued in school. We will strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and to develop an environment where all children can flourish and feel safe.
