Dear Parents and Carers,
Following the statement issued by Sheffield City Council at 10am this morning, the school is now able to confirm that from Monday 15 June it will be open for Vulnerable Pupils, and for existing and newly attending children of Critical Workers in all year groups who have indicated that they wish their child to attend.
Due to the necessity of following government guidance that schools focus upon ensuring that Vulnerable Children and the children of Critical Workers attend school in the initial phases of wider re-opening of settings, and the very high incidence of children at the school with at least one recorded Critical Worker parent or carer, it is not been possible for the school to re-open more widely in a safe way to non-Critical Worker pupils at this point in time. However, the school is very aware of the needs of its currently non-attending pupils and families, particularly in the context of more recent government guidance issued earlier this week regarding the further viability of all school pupils returning to their settings prior to the end of this academic year.To this end, the school is seeking to develop its home learning processes over the coming days in order to ensure that its offer meets the needs of your child and family as closely as possible.
The school would also like to offer an update upon transition arrangements at this time:
- Pupils in F2 will be informed of their new teaching groupings from September onwards in a update to parents and carers on Friday.
- As parents and carers will be aware, Year 1 pupils have been mixed before transfer into Year 2.As such, Y1 parents and carers will receive a message from the school as planned on Friday regarding next year’s teaching groups. Please note that due to GDPR data protection requirements, the school is not able to distribute class lists of pupils to parents and carers.
- Information for parents and carers of Y2 pupils regarding teaching groupings for their child at the school’s sister setting, Lydgate Junior School, from September onwards will be distributed shortly.
- In addition, the school has been exploring transition options further in order to facilitate opportunities for all of its Y2 pupils (both attending and non-attending) to take place and will communicate further information in this regard to parents and carers of Y2 pupils as soon as possible.
As noted previously, the school would like to thank all parents and carers for their understanding and patience during this exceptionally difficult time, and to again assure you that further information will be shared as soon as is possible.Should you require any further information at this time, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Best wishes to you all, and many thanks for your continuing support.
