Welcome to F2!
On this page you will be able to find out what really happens in the Foundation 2 classroom and solve the riddle of ‘What did you do today?’ – the usual answer being ‘nothing’ or ‘just played’!
Our role in the Foundation Stage is to provide children with the means to experience the world for themselves alongside more academic approaches. We strive to give children the means to develop their own ideas and theories so that they can make sense of the world, and to give them opportunities to develop and test these theories with their peers. Through planned play opportunities we give the children the tools to take ‘safe risks’ to both learn and test their boundaries. We make time for children to be active and to be quiet; to explore and to learn; to be indoors and outside; to be sociable or just to be themselves, whoever they are.
We are glad you can join us on our journey and hope you enjoy the glimpse into the exciting, funny and magical moments of a very special time in your child’s school life.
The F2 Team.
Our latest Learning Overview
Ooh, it feels nice to settle into these green lily pads and paddle in that cool water. Phileas and I are looking forward to relaxing in our lovely pond all summer long! I wonder what you are doing in the holidays, and what you've been up to this week?
George has been working really hard in his number work, and loves reading - as you can see, he's a real bookworm!
He's even been helping his little brother to learn new sounds using BBC Letters and Sounds - top marks!
Have a lovely holiday!
That's right, this week it's been my turn to help with the vegetables in Mr Bromage's greenhouse. Even though the weather has been a bit cold this week, it's lovely and warm in here!
Lenny has been helping to release his butterflies into the garden - he has really enjoyed watching the changes as they have changed from caterpillars into butterflies!
Thank you for sending in your pictures!
That's right, Phileas and Jess have been hard at work looking after Mr Bromage's lettuces. Phileas doesn't really like eating salad much, but he does like to eat up the slugs that sometimes enjoy munching Mr Bromage's lettuces. I think that Jessie might have spotted one!
Abdussalam has been busy doing his number learning at home, and listening carefully to Mrs Singh on screen!
Meanwhile, Erin has been using her brother's precious jellybeans to do her number work!
Don't forget to send in your home learning pictures for Philippa next week!
That's right, everyone - Jessie and I have been doing some sunbathing in the back garden this week. You might have had a sit-down in the sun as well, but I know that you've been busy with your home learning too!
Talking of sunshine, Reet and Rivan have made an amazing model of our solar system with the sun in the middle (doesn't it look hot!). Jessie was interested in playing with the balls on your model until I explained to her that they were really planets!
See you next week,
Like my twin sister Philippa, I'm learning at home at the moment. One of the things that I've been doing this week is exploring the world through this really big atlas with Jess. I really like looking at the pages about tropical rain forests, because I'd love to go on holiday to a rain forest one day with Philippa (although I'm not sure how much Jessie would like it - she might be too hot there in all that fur!).
Poppie has been learning all about dragons this week in her house - look at this amazing model she made! Wow!
Nishaad has been busy with his sewing needles. I like hedgehogs, and often say hello to them if they wander over to our garden pond!
